the grandkds

Pat and I are in Michigan this week staying with two granddaughters while their parents and another grandchild go to Mackinaw Island for three days. It is an annual event for the fourth grade class. Today is the first day, and already one of the girls had to come home from school. She has an upset stomach. The oldest daughter gets home about 2:30. We then have to pile these kids in a car and go to another school and pick up a granddaughter from another family. We will bring them all back here and cook dinner then it is off with the oldest to soccer practice about twenty miles from here. Drive em to school, pick em up , run em here there and every where. I don't know how modern parents do it any more. We had none of this when I was a child. Everything was right in our neighborhood. Baseball practice was within walking distance and all games were within a mile of the house. One of our granddaughters plays on a team that is part of an olympic development group. She travels all over the midwest to play her games. This costs several thousand a year. Pat and I don't understand how modern parents keep up with it all!!
