tubing on the James river and other ramblings

I surprised Pat today. I asked her last week if she was ready for an adventure, and she said yes. I packed the necessary items today and kept our destination a secret. We drove to Scottsville , Virginia which is an ancient mountain town right on the James River. We rented tubes from James River Reeling and Rafting Co.( Or was it rafting and reeling) and they then transported us up stream and dropped us off in the river. We had a third tube which contained our cooler attached to my tube. We were the only people on this beautiful calm stretch of river. We never saw another sole. We had an hour and a half leisurely float back to the livery. The current was so slow that we actually stopped forward progress when the breeze blew against us, an had to paddle with our hands. We explored the tiny town after our trip and then took the long slow way home on route six instead of using I-64. I had an idea and suggested it to her. This trip was my surprise. The next trip should be a surprise for me.
Little Will is doing good. He is still in the parent training part of being a new born, but he seems to have them coming along nicely.
Pat and I have been doing a lot of research on motorhomes. We have talked about selling everything and going on the road for a couple of years having only the motorhome as a dwelling. It would be great to see this country. Her parents are in their eighties though and it will be tough to leave them. Right now we are just in the tlaking and research stage of it all.

I would love to drive around in a motorhome for years!! There is a whole subculture of people who do it. You'd make lots of friends! And you could go up to Cananda and everything!
