commercials and tv!!!

I watch very few sporting events on tv. I do however thoroughly enjoying watching the NCAA basketball tournament every March. I finally got so disgusted with the constant interruption of the game by commercials that I turned off the championship game between Duke and Butler half way through the second half last night. It seems like every five minutes or so the game is stopped so that the viewers can be bombarded with commercials for things that they can't possibly live without. This interruption can change the momentum of the game. It is 11:00AM the day after the game and I still don't know who won. I think that I won't even bother watching the playoffs next year.
This same constant interruption drove me to public television also. I always see what's going on there before checking out the regular channels. I hardly know what programs are on regular tv any more.
The same thing happened with radio. Constant earsplitting bombardment of commercials drove me to look for an alternative. That is how I discovered public radio and classical music about fifteen years ago. I am much better off for it.
