What happened in Torino?

What happened to our Olympic athletes? Bodie Miller didn't even get a bronze medal. He acted like a spoiled brat on national TV, and then said that he really didn't care whether he won a medal or not. Is that the kind of athlete we want representing our country? I believe that I heard that the budget for our ski team is twenty one million. Surely for that kind of money we can get some young folks who do care!
The two female skiers who wore jewelery while skiing weren't exactly showing respect either. I noticed that none of the foreign team members acted up like Bodie and these two girls. I felt sorry for the girl who lost the gold medal when she grabbed her snow board, but such is life. She learned a lesson that she will never forget. I don't really care whether our athletes bring home medals or not. I do however care how they represent our country to the rest of the world. Of course when our presidunce acts like the gunfigter Billy The Kid what should we expect.
Most of our team members acted as they should. It was just the few bad apples who will be remembered unfortunately.

poetry reading

Pat and I went to Newport News the other night to an open mike session at Java Joe's coffee house. There were approximately forty people there, Most of them were poets who read two or three pieces each, Some of them were very good while others were off of the wall and I couldn't understand any of their stuff. I read several of my poems including, Lunch At Costco's which really caused some laughter. It made me feel really good. I will certainly go again in March.
The annual Florida Keys fishing trip is coming up soon. We will leave on Sunday the 12th of March and will drive straight through to Marathon. It is about an eighteen hour drive.
I played golf yesterday in some very unseasonable weather. The temperature got to sixty eight degrees. Not bad for February 16th!! Major changes are expected starting today. A storm is coming from the Arctic. Strong winds, cold temps. and snow are expected here. The natives will clean the shelves at the grocery stores today. That used to make us laugh when we first moved here. If snow was mentioned on the weather report everyone went grocery shopping for the staples.
I have been enjoying the olympics on TV, but think that Bodie Miller's mama didn't paddle his little ass enough when he was a kid. He reportedly says that he doesn't care if he wins a medal or not and has displayed an attitude of arrogance.. That is not the proper attitude as far as I am concerned. The American ski team has a budget of several million dollars. Maybe it would be better spent on someone who does care! I'm sure that some of the big doners will be reluctant to waste their money on the ski team next year on a team that caters to a spoiled little brat!!

just chillin'

I'm sitting here tonight listening to Vivaldi's guitat concertos and generally wasting time. It was a beautiful day today. The temperature got into the low seventies. Not to bad for February third! I started my story tellers class last week. I have completed two sessions so far. Next week we are supposed to tell two stories in class. It isn't as easy as it looks. I found that out in a hurry. This Sunday is open mike at the Bay School. I am reading several poems that I have written in the last few weeks. I am eager to see what people think of them.
Five more weeks and we leave for our annual Florida Keys fishing trip. It will be the last year that we will be able to camp at Knight's Key Campground. It has been sold to an arab who is putting up condos. He paid 28,000,000 for 28 acres. It won't be long before poor folk won't have any place to go in the keys. It is becoming a play ground for the rich. Oh Well.
Little Will just turned seven months old. He is really getting cute.
